The Cutting Board Born for Japanese Knives

Hasegawa wood-core elastomer cutting board up to 30-50% lighter, strong and durable yet gentle on knife edges

Why a wood core in the middle?

    - Durability: the wood core keeps the board from warping over long use and through washing in hot water. It is stable, dishwasher-safe, and sits on a board stand without sagging or twisting
- Light weight: the wood core makes the board up to 30% lighter than an ordinary plastic board, so it is easier to use and to move, less of a chore to wash, and less likely to cause injury from lifting or dropping

Could the wood core become a source of bacteria?

The wood core of the HASEGAWA board is sterilised before being fully encased in a thick layer of plastic. The core will not come out unless the board is misused.

What else is interesting about a wood-core board?

The board is made of elastomer, a soft material with weak intermolecular forces, which makes the surface friendly to knife edges and extends how long an edge stays sharp. The surface is also stable and not slippery, keeping ingredients from sliding during use and making precise, delicate cuts easy.
